Considering the city as a museum, we created interconnecting pathways that enhance the existing culture in Manchester as well as adding an additional layer. By re-purposing the abandoned underground tunnels beneath the streets; a connective path can be shaped. These Victorian systems contain a rich history which allows the pathway to become a museum of its own. We left the existing ground level untouched, permitting the normal flow of the user to continue with little disruption. Carefully placed towers connect the past and the present with high walk ways that signify the future. These higher walk ways above the city deliver a new way of providing direct routes between existing spaces, as well as room for new exhibition spaces and the possibility of collaboration to happen between these institutions.
